7 Lessons from Stephen Curry

Being a Steph Curry fan for close to a decade now, here are my 7 lessons drawn from him over the years. You can see some parallels drawn to academics as well.

  1. Don’t let your mistakes, your setbacks, your losses bother you. Steph in his 1st freshman game had 13 TOs. Fight through mistakes. NEXT PLAY MENTALITY!!!
    • He said ”The first time I heard the term ‘NPM’, I couldn’t get it out of my head. It’s a lifestyle now”
  2. When you get in that rhythm [like what Steph was in April 2021], that’s when all the work that you’ve put in shows up. That’s when it’s most fun.
    • For you, writing tests/ revising will take you to that level where all the hours of work put in will show up together. That’s when you’ll clear every exam one after another.
  3. Confidence is earned“. It’s not something that god gifts to you. Hard Work gives you confidence
    • Have that confidence. Like Conor, like Curry. Nothing wrong in showing up your hard earned skills. Nothing more satisfying than seeing your work show up!
  4. There are too many games, too many possessions. You can’t stay in the past. You gotta stay in the moment.
    • Curry, “I always believe that the next shot is going in, no matter how bad I start the game”.
  5. Draymond– Steph is in the weight-room every single day. The performances that you see today  are a testament to the work that I see him put in everyday.
  6. Stay in the present moment. See Steph and how confident he is in his abilities. He is always in the present.
  7. Say it before doing it. If you have the vision and the confidence, things will happen.
    • See Steph in the all Star game. Have the confidence to know it beforehand what you’re capable of doing. It’s all within you. Steph knew it beforehand. He didn’t need any validation, hence no insecurities. Know your capabilities, man!
